To: Troop 43

Thank you to the Adult Leaders and the many scouts who helped with completing my Eagle Scout Project at the Prince of Peace Food Pantry last Saturday. I appreciate the support of Troop 43 and all of hard work that they did to help with this great community project.

News and Upcoming events

1) Court of Honor & Friends of Scouting presentation:
April 7th @ 7 PM.
Bring a dessert or snack to share. Table service will be provided or feel free to bring your own to save resources. Beverages will also be provided.

We need an adult to help oversee the social portion of the Troop's COHs. This person would be an adviser to the patrol in charge . It is a 3 time a year task and we will help you get started. Please contact Kathy Bierl to volunteer.

2) Order of the Arrow elections:
Elections will be during our next meeting on March 24. Scouts must be 1st Class to be eligible. ALL scouts vote for those fellow scouts they feel have earned this honor. Please make every effort to attend this meeting.

3) Camp card fundraiser:
Camp cards will be available at the next meeting. Cards are for discounts at local businesses.Scouts may check out 5 at a time. They sell for $5 and scouts will earn $2 per card sold. Scouts are monetarily responsible for all cards checked out. Check out this link to view the actual card:

4) Summer camp:
Deposits are due at the next meeting, March 24th.

We need adult help. If your scout is going we need you to plan on attending as well for a portion of the week. The adults who usually cover summer camp have burned up a lot of their vacation time with other scout camp outs and are unable to spend the entire week. We are required to always have 2-deep leadership day and night. There is no cost to volunteers and only those who stay >72 hours need to have a complete physical. Pleased look at you calendars to see what day(s) you can help and let John Vance or Sharon Dembicki know your availability. We want to have this firmed up by the court of honor.

5) Camp-outs:
April 25-26-27 at Loud Thunder. Cost $30. This will be a great opportunity for the newer scouts to work on rank requirements.

May 16-17-18 canoeing along either the Maquoketa River or Wapsi River. This will depend on river levels. All scouts can attend. Cost TBA

High Adventure to Porcupine National Park, UP Michigan, June 22 - 28. First class and above only. Limited spots available; priority given to scouts who have not had this opportunity to attend in the past. More info to come from Mr. Lange.

Mini 4 day High adventure to upper Iowa area. Mid to late July. Details TBA. Adult in charge - Dale Lacina.

6) Field Day:
Saturday, April 26 at Camp Loud Thunder. This is an Illowa Council shooting sports field day for Scouts who are 14+ years old. For more information and to sign up:
